A good post about a point I wrestled with for a while before kicking off my recent latest blog.
I want to write about business, entrepreneurship, creativity and ideas and struggled to think of a name for the site that would a) encapsulate all of this b) not date over time c) still be available as a domain name.
I also agree that there will be occasions where I know I will want to write "off topic". A branded blog would not normally fit well with this situation. There is also the potential that your blog content may evolve over time and end up nowhere near the concept with which you started leaving your branded name irrelevant.
The only constant will be you - and therefore your name.

@Steve, Thanks for your comment. You are absolutely right about blog getting evolved with different content than the one you started with. That's precisely happened in my case, so finally decided to go with my own name.
